Virginia Blackwell Docking was born in Columbus, Mississippi to Thomas Grant and Annie Strong (Duncan) Blackwell. She attended Wichita State University (Wichita, Kansas), and then the University of Kansas, from which she graduated in 1924. Shortly after graduating, she married George Docking, with whom she had two sons, George Richard Docking and Robert Blackwell Docking. Her husband was elected Governor of Kansas in 1956, serving from 1957 to 1961. George Docking died on January 20, 1964. Later...
